Medication prices: See what pharmacies pay for common drugs like omeprazole and more – By Evan Frank (Indianapolis Star) / Feb 27, 2024

    Medication prices are changing.

Some of the most commonly prescribed drugs, like omeprazole or amoxicillin, have increased by more than $1 in the last year. Others, like fluoxetine, which is used to treat depression, have decreased.

We put together a database that tracks changes in the average price pharmacies pay for a particular drug. Once you click on an individual drug, you’ll see its lowest, highest and latest prices and a chart showing price changes over the past ten years.

The price reflects what retail community pharmacies pay on average, based on nationwide surveys each month. While the prices patients pay vary widely from what it costs pharmacies to buy prescription drugs from wholesalers, these prices can indicate market trends, changes in the supply chain or drug shortages.
