PLEASANT HILL — Officials at Valley View Middle School said a minor has been arrested in connection with a threat of violence during the school year’s last week, authorities said Monday.

Valley View principal Lisa Sullivan released a statement Sunday, according to Mt. Diablo Unified School District spokeswoman Ursula Leimbach.

In the statement, Sullivan confirmed the threat’s discovery; she said staff members alerted police, who began an investigation and detained the minor.

“With an abundance of caution, next week we will add supervision on campus as well as provide counseling if needed to help ensure students and staff feel safe,” she said. “Student safety is paramount to all of us, and we appreciate authorities working with us to ensure all students are safe.”

Pleasant Hill police are leading the investigation, and Concord and Martinez police and the Federal Bureau of Investigations also have been contacted, Leimbach said
