Monica Lewinsky Blasts Upcoming TV Special About Bill Clinton Affair – By Tierney McAfee (people.com) / Nov 28 2017

Monica Lewinsky took to Twitter on Tuesday to serve up a “correction” to the title of an upcoming true crime series special about her affair with former President Bill Clinton and his subsequent impeachment.

The two-hour special from CNN’s HLN is titled “The Monica Lewinsky Scandal” — but Lewinsky, now an anti-bullying activist, suggested the focus should be not on her, but rather on Clinton and his impeachment.

The former White House intern called out HLN’s announcement in a tweet, crossing out “The Monica Lewinsky Scandal” and replacing it with: “The Starr Investigation” or “The Clinton Impeachment.”

“Fixed it for you,” she added in the tweet. “You’re welcome.”

Lewinsky received an outpouring of support after her post, with one commenter calling on people to “stop victimizing Monica.”

Lewinsky has spoken out in recent years about the public shaming she received following her sexual relationship with then-President Clinton when she was an intern.

“I felt like every layer of my skin and my identity were ripped off of me in ’98 and ’99,” Lewsinky told the Guardian in April 2016. “It’s a skinning of sorts. You feel incredibly raw and frightened. But I also feel like the shame sticks to you like tar.”

In the wake of the recent wave of sexual misconduct allegations against men of power in various fields — including high-profile politicians like Roy Moore and Al Franken — some former top advisers to President Obama and the Clintons have changed their tune about the scandal and voiced their support for Lewinsky.

During an interview with MSNBC earlier this month, Jennifer Palmieri — the communications director for Hillary Clinton who also worked for Bill Clinton’s administration — said that she was sorry for everything Lewinsky had gone through.

“Monica Lewinsky was my intern and the relationship the president had with her was very inappropriate,” Palmieri said. “It was a consensual relationship, but he was the President of the United States and she was a 24-year-old intern — that is taking advantage of a power dynamic on a historic scale.”

Former Obama staffer Alyssa Mastromonaco also offered support for Lewinsky on Twitter, using the hashtag “#IStandWithMonica.”

The former deputy chief of staff for operations wrote that: “This is one of those days I think the public discourse is embarrassing and I just want to say @MonicaLewinsky is brilliant and kind and an anti-bullyinng [sic] activist. Let’s not rewrite history and diminish her experience as ‘just a consensual blow job’ #IStandWithMonica.”

PB/TK – Hey why not, we’ve already relived the Menendez Boys tv retrospective and a Tonya Harding cinema release coming, so why not get the whole Monica story on film. Did anyone ask Billy if he’s got any negatives to donate
