More than 4 in 10 Americans have concerns about the fairness of the presidential election, survey says – By Rebecca Morin (USA Today) / Aug 21 2020
WASHINGTON – With the November election less than 75 days away, nearly half of Americans are not confident the country can hold a fair election, according to a new survey.
More than four in ten (46%) Americans say they are not too confident or not at all confident that the general election will be conducted fairly and accurately in November, according to a survey from the Democracy Fund + UCLA Nationscape Project. Concern is similar among members of both parties, and concern among older voters is up.
The survey comes amid growing concerns about the United States Postal Service’s ability to handle an expected surge of mail-in ballots in the November elections. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, who is facing calls to step down by Democrats, will be testifying before the Senate Friday and will testify before the House Oversight Committee next week.
