Oregon’s congressional delegation condemns ‘attempted coup’ in U.S. Capitol, recounts harrowing moments of mob violence – By Jeff Manning and Maxine Bernstein (The Oregonian/OregonLive) / January 6 2021
Members of Oregon’s congressional delegation expressed shock and disbelief Wednesday as a mob of violent protestors poured into the U.S. Capitol, forcing Congress and the vice president to flee.
“It’s like a third-world country,” Rep. Suzanne Bonamici told The Oregonian/OregonLive. “Someone has been shot in the Capitol.”
The Oregon Democrat declined for safety reasons to disclose where was Wednesday afternoon, saying only that she’s in a “locked-down” location outside the Capitol and is safe. Bonamici called on President Donald Trump to act swiftly to end Wednesday’s assault by right-wing extremists.
