Pa. Democrats claim a takeover of the state House of Representatives

Pa. Democrats claim they took control of the state House; GOP says not so fast – By Jan Murphy (Penn Live) / Nov 9, 2022

Democrats are claiming they have won enough seats to take control of the state House for the first time in more than a decade, but there are some moving parts that could delay or derail their majority status.

At a news conference outside Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Rep. Leanne Krueger, who chairs the House Democratic Campaign Committee, said based on their projections, “we expect to be at least at 102 and there are paths that take us higher.”

House Democratic Whip Jordan Harris of Philadelphia said they drew that conclusion based on the election results and how the votes typically trend in the districts that remain up in the air, although Krueger did concede that there still some seats that remain in play.

However, Republicans who have held the majority in the 203-seat chamber since 2011, are saying the Democrats should not claim victory so fast.
