The managing editor of a Pennsylvania news publication was arrested Wednesday after police say he attempted to have sexual relations with a girl he knew was underage.
Christopher Z. Morelli, 54, of Spring Township, Centre County, was promoted to managing editor of the Centre County Gazette in June 2023. According to the news organization’s website, he previously held the title from 2012 to 2016 and returned to the publication in November 2022 as an assistant editor.
In September 2023, police in Spring Township were contacted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation regarding Morelli and his involvement with an undercover agent in the FBI’s Pittsburgh Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force, according to a criminal affidavit.
