A peaceful protest at a Delaware County school escalated into fights on Tuesday, with several students being arrested.
WPVI reported that Students at Academy Park High School in Sharon Hill organized a protest against a new dress code policy around 11:30 a.m.on Nov. 1. The school district’s new dress codes, passed at a school board meeting on Oct. 27, bans hooded sweatshirts and hats within the district’s buildings.
The students began with a protest in the school’s auditorium, but the situation then escalated to fights, taking place both inside and outside of the school. An all-county police assist was sent out in response.
Sharon Hill police told WPVI that as the students protested, some began damaging property inside the school, and then fights broke out among the students.
