President Trump looks to rebrand NAFTA – By OAN Newsroom (oann.com) / Sept 13 2018

President Trump is looking to rebrand NAFTA even if Canada does not join the agreement.

During a private fundraiser Wednesday, the president said he wants to rename the trilateral agreement with Mexico and Canada as the USMC pact.

However, the president claims he will drop the ‘C’ from the name if the U.S. and Canada don’t agree to terms.

The president called out Canada during the event, accusing the country of saying it is “good friends” with the U.S. yet having bad trade practices.

Following talks Wednesday, Canada’s Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland seemed optimistic on negotiations.

“We do believe that a deal is possible, a deal which is good for Canada, good for the United States, good for Mexico,” she stated. “Achieving that deal is going to require goodwill, good faith and flexibility on both sides and we think that’s eminently possible.”

The U.S. and Mexico agreed to a preliminary deal last month, but talks with Canada are ongoing.

President Trump has said he is happy with the deal with Mexico and hopes Canada joins.
