President Trump, Merkel to Work on Trade, Leaders Agree Trade Needs to be Fair and Reciprocal – By OAN Newsroom (oann.com) / April 27 2018
President Trump and German Chancellor Angela Merkel agree trade needs to be more fair between the two countries.
During a joint press conference Friday, the president said the U.S. and Germany need a reciprocal relationship, and said the two leaders discussed the issue at length during their meetings.
He also said Germany and other countries need to pay their fair share into NATO, adding the U.S. has too much of a burden.
Shifting to Iran, the president noted both nations must ensure Iran does not get close to developing nuclear weapons.
Merkel admitted the current deal is not sufficient enough to curb Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
The two also indicated the U.S. and Germany will work together to ensure Iran’s influence in the Middle East is contained.
