Rep. Maxwell Frost calls out Marjorie Taylor Greene’s ‘not a mother’ comment – By Jenny Goldsberry (Washington Examiner) / April 28, 2023
Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL) blasted Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) for saying a woman wasn’t a mother because she is a stepmother.
On Wednesday, Greene made the comment to American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten during a House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic meeting. Weingarten has stepchildren, and Greene insisted she was not a mother. Frost gave a rebuttal on the House floor Friday. He said he is a “proud adoptee” of “two loving parents.”
“Yet, I heard in this chamber a few days ago that someone’s saying my parents aren’t real parents. Let me be clear — I am their child. They are my parents,” Frost said. “And for bigoted, closed-minded reasons, certain folks have decided that people who adopt their children are lesser than.”
This week during a hearing, a member belittled a witness, suggesting she wasn't a mother because she is a stepmom.
