Roy Moore Files Voter Fraud Complaint in Alabama Senate Election – By Alexa Lardieri (usnews.com) / Dec 28 2017
Roy Moore, the Republican candidate who lost a special election for the Senate in Alabama, filed a complaint Wednesday alleging potential voter fraud.
Moore has refused to concede to Democratic winner Doug Jones and has urged a delay in certifying the results, according to a press release from his office.
Moore, who has been accused of sexual abuse by several women when they were teens, lost the Dec. 12 election by more than 20,000 votes, making Jones the first Democrat to hold a Senate seat from Alabama in 25 years.
The results of the special election were scheduled to be certified Thursday by Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill. However, the Moore campaign’s last-ditch effort to stop state officials from certifying Jones as the winner will delay that. The campaign says the certification should be delayed until a “thorough investigation of potential election fraud, that improperly altered the outcome of this election, is conducted.”
Moore claims there are irregularities in 20 precincts in Jefferson County, which is “enough to reverse the outcome of the election.” He says the voter turnout in the county is unusually high and he calls for a new special election.
His complaint charges that out-of-state residents were permitted to vote and that election fraud experts had concluded through statistical analyses that fraud had occurred. One of the experts he cites, Richard Charnin, has written online on conspiracy theories about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and the death of Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich, CNN reported.
Despite an endorsement from President Donald Trump, many Republicans distanced themselves from Moore following multiple sexual abuse allegations that arose during his campaign. Moore has vehemently denied those allegations.
PB/TK – Too late so sad results have been finalized. But why did it take so long to file? And you can’t use the “My lawyers is Jewish and was on holiday” excuse
