Rupert Murdoch company launches news aggregation site Knewz – By Zachary Halaschak (Washington Examiner) / Jan 29 2020
Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp has launched a news aggregation platform that offers readers “a range of perspectives” from more than 400 publishers.
The website was launched on Wednesday. The bright yellow- and black-colored website features top stories as well as sections that highlight individual news stories and link to several sources for each. For example, one of the sections on Wednesday was titled “Trump signs trade deal” and included links to stories about the topic from the Hill, Fox Business, the Washington Examiner, and the New York Times.
According to the website, Knewz “works by combining cutting-edge artificial intelligence with experienced editors. The technology scans hundreds of news sources, and our editors highlight a selection of headlines that provide a broad perspective on stories of the day.”
Robert Thompson, CEO of News Corp, said that readers will be able to see news from “publishers large and small” located in all 50 states.
“Knewz is unique in that readers can, at a single glance, see multiple sources,” Thompson said. “There are mastheads from across the political and regional spectrum, and premium publishers will not be relegated in the rankings.”
