The temptation of free money is impossible to resist, and turns out Arizona public schools are the perfect goldmine for grifters.
The state’s Department of Education on Tuesday sent shockwaves with its prediction that school vouchers will cost Arizona $900 million in 2024.
That’s a staggering amount by any calculation, but not entirely surprising, given that Arizona allows anyone to apply for an Empowerment Scholarship Account.
The department estimates the voucher program will grow from roughly 57,9000 enrolled now to 100,000 students next year.
