Using the AT&T Center as a polling location cost Bexar County more than $250,000 according to a copy of the invoice sent to county officials.
The grand total including staffing and COVID-19 supplies cost a whopping $255,716.10 The site was used as a polling location for three weeks from Oct. 13 through Nov. 3.
Expenses included having a plumber, electrician, parking lot attendants and medics on staff and more.
The total cost cited by the Spurs is far higher than the price of operating the county’s three other mega voting centers.
The Alzafar Shrine Auditorium and St. Paul’s Community Center cost the county $18,100 and $16,000, respectively, while Palo Alto College operated without cost to the county. Typically, Bexar elections officials pay polling sites in the hundreds and low thousands of dollars.
