Senator Ted Cruz recently described a possible secession plan for Texas if “things become hopeless” in the United States.
Appearing at Texas A&M University last month, Cruz was asked by a young person in the audience what the best course of action would be if the Lone Star state decided to break away from the rest of the country.
Cruz said he understood “the sentiment behind the question,” but he isn’t ready to secede right now.
“I think Texas has a responsibility to the country, and I’m not ready to give up on America. I love this country,” he said, prompting applause from the crowd.
