Here’s some perspective on the number of people in Pennsylvania state government who earned six figures last year. The $100,000 Club is now so large that all of the members wouldn’t fit in the Giant Center in Hershey.
The home of the Hershey Bears has a seating capacity of 10,500. But the membership in the state government’s $100,000 Club reached 11,337 in 2020, PennLive has found.
This is the first time the $100,000 Club’s membership has topped 10,000 (and 11,000, obviously).
The club added 1,586 members compared to 2019 and it’s the largest single-year increase in at least eight years, according to a PennLive analysis of employee earnings in all three branches of state government, plus independent agencies.
