Democratic lawmakers on Thursday sent a letter urging the Biden administration to consider giving Americans more relief by providing them with monthly recurring cash payments until the coronavirus pandemic is gone.
The Jan. 28 letter — which was signed by 53 Democratic members of the House, including prominent Reps. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan — was sent to President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
“Dear President Biden and Vice President Harris,” the letter began. “We kindly request that your incoming administration consider including support for recurring cash payments in your future economic relief plans. Recurring payments would provide a long-term lifeline to struggling Americans for the duration of this deadly pandemic.”
