Trump Applauds Five Former Presidents for Hurricane Relief Effort – By Sandy Fitzgerald (newsmax.com) / Oct 20 2017
President Donald Trump, in a video address recorded for the One America Appeal concert Saturday night, lauded the nation’s five living former presidents for the hurricane relief effort and promised the United States will “come back stronger and better than ever before.”
“This wonderful effort reminds us that we truly are one nation under God, all unified by our values and our devotion to one another,” Trump said in the video, posted through the White House’s YouTube account. “I also want to thank every person, including everyone here tonight, who has contributed to this vital effort.”
Trump thanked former Presidents Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama for their effort, while singling out the Points of Light Foundation, which the elder Bush started, for its efforts to hit the states and territories experiencing damage from Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Maria and Nate.
“This wonderful effort reminds us that we truly are one nation under God, all unified by our values and our devotion to one another,” Trump said in the video. “I also want to thank every person, including everyone here tonight, who has contributed to this vital effort.”
The fundraiser comes as the Trump administration is facing complaints from critics who say its efforts have not come quickly enough for Puerto Rico, where much of the island territory remains without power and supplies.
The five former presidents will all be on hand at the One America Appeal event, being held in College Station, Texas, where the George H.W. Bush Library and Museum is located.
PB/TK – Hm, let’s see what could be said about this video monologue: Pre-recorded before Bannon’s complaints about Bush 43 or damage control to help declining poll numbers? How about there are times when any POTUS needs to suck up their pride and use their soapbox for something good
