Violent crime in the U.S. dropped last year, but property crimes skyrocketed, according to data in the FBI’s annual crime report released Monday.

By the numbers: Reported murder and non-negligent manslaughter cases in 2022 nationwide fell 6.1% compared to 2021, according to the FBI.
