UTTER PARANOIA: Iranian General Accuses Israel Of ‘Cloud Theft’

How paranoid is the Iranian government about the state of Israel? On Monday, an Iranian general accused Israel of manipulating the clouds above Iran so that Iran would get no rain.
Iran has been suffering from a drought for years, at one point for 14 consecutive years, but on Monday Iranian Brigadier General Gholam Reza Jalali, head of Iran’s Civil Defense Organization, told a press conference that Israel was to blame for “cloud theft,” along with “another country in the region,” according to The Times Of Israel.
Jalali stated, “The changing climate in Iran is suspect. Foreign interference is suspected to have played a role in climate change,” insisting that details from an Iranian scientific study “confirm” the claim. He added, “Israel and another country in the region have joint teams which work to ensure clouds entering Iranian skies are unable to release rain. On top of that, we are facing the issue of cloud and snow theft.”
His evidence for the latter charge? A survey showing that above 7,218 feet, all of the mountainous areas between Afghanistan and the Mediterranean were covered in snow, except for those areas in Iran.
ISNA reported that the head of Iran’s meteorological service, Ahad Vazife, quickly countered the general’s flight of fancy, stating, General Jalali “probably has documents of which I am not aware, but on the basis of meteorological knowledge, it is not possible for a country to steal snow or clouds. Iran has suffered a prolonged drought, and this is a global trend that does not apply only to Iran. Raising such questions not only does not solve any of our problems, but will deter us from finding the right solutions.”
As The Times Of Israel noted, “Former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in 2011 accused Western countries of devising plans to ‘cause drought’ in Iran, adding that ‘European countries used special equipment to force clouds to dump’ their water on their continent.”
Despite the Iranian government’s paranoia and hatred of Israel, in May, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a video in which he announced the creation of a Farsi website that would show how Iranians could recycle their wastewater and Iranian farmers could save their crops and feed their families.
