Washington Post ‘Conservative’ Jennifer Rubin Spreads Fake News About Kavanaugh Hearing Prosecutor – By Joseph Curl (dailywire.com) / Sept 26 2018
If Brett Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford shows up on Thursday to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee, she’ll be questioned by Rachel Mitchell, a sex crimes prosecutor from Arizona.
Mitchell has been hired to handle the questioning on behalf of the 11 Republicans on the panel, who are all men. One intent of her selection is to take away criticism that male Republicans are badgering a female “victim” of sexual misconduct.
Of course, as these things go, it didn’t take long for liberals and Democrats to begin maligning Mitchell. Most intriguing was a Twitter post by Jennifer Rubin, who is called “conservative” by The Washington Post, where she writes a column called “Right Turn.”
Rubin claimed on Tuesday that Mitchell has previously worked with Sheriff Joe Arpaio, a divisive Republican. The Arizona lawman took an outspoken stance against illegal immigration and also pressed for an investigation into former president Barack Obama’s birth certificate, claiming it was forged.
“Only this crowd of clueless old white guys would pick someone from Sheriff Joe’s operation,” Rubin wrote on Twitter to her 208,000 followers. “I was saying no self-respecting lawyer would take the job of giving cover to GOP cowards. I was right.”

There was only one problem: Her claim was completely wrong.
Mitchell worked at the Maricopa County Attorney’s office, while Arpaio worked in the Sheriff’s Department — two completely different agencies. And Twitterers were quick to point out the error.
Arizona Capitol Times reporter Jeremy Duda wrote: “Everyone can go ahead and stop invoking Joe Arpaio’s name. Rachel Mitchell works for the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, not the Sheriff’s Office. They’re not the same agency. Just the same county.”

GET IT RIGHT Rachel Mitchell works for the elected Maricopa County attorney. She has worked under at least three elected county attorneys during her time in that office. Arpaio was Maricopa County sheriff. Two separate elected offices. https://t.co/4QSmy434zx

This is wrong & dangerous bc you’re sowing doubt about a dedicated public servant who has prosecuted sex crimes on behalf of many women. The Maricopa Cty Attorney’s Office & the Sheriff’s Office r separate entities. Stop lying to your gullible followers. https://t.co/wEM1MR7tJT…

Even Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) pointed out the blatant error.
2,900 tweets and counting for a tweet maligning someone with patently false information.
