The White House has initiated an internal investigation of private email use after news broke that members of President Trump’s family, who also work for his administration, had been using private email accounts.
Sources told Politico that the Trump administration will examine emails exchanged between the White House server and private accounts of senior aides.
The probe was launched after it was revealed Ivanka Trump, President Trump’s daughter and White House adviser, along with her husband Kushner, senior adviser to the president, and several other senior White House officials, were found to have used private email accounts to conduct work-related business.
Kushner sent or received approximately 100 work-related emails from his personal account during the first seven months of the year.
Former White House officials were also found to have used private accounts, including former chief White House strategist Steve Bannon and former chief of staff Reince Priebus.
The investigation may take up to several months and officials are trying to find all emails sent or received related to government issues. The White House is working to identify whether any of the content in the emails pertains to the ongoing Russia investigation by Congress and special counsel Robert Mueller, according to Politico.
White House staff have been reminded not to conduct business from their personal email accounts.
“All White House personnel have been instructed to use official email to conduct all government related work,” Sarah Sanders, the White House press secretary, said Monday. “They are further instructed that if they receive work-related communication on personal accounts, they should be forwarded to official email accounts.”
PB/TK – where’s the media outrage? where’s the people outrage? oh we must either be in email withdraw or just shrugging it off as “well Hillary did it, who cares we don’t want another 3 years (and still going) committee after committee finding nothing attitude
