February 4, 2023 – Today’s Inconsistent Thoughts (Censorship & Term Limits)

Yes it’s me again with another rambling inconsistent thoughts post. It’s only been a few weeks since the last post and honestly this one should’ve been sooner than this.

Well not sure how inconsistent this one will be considering it’s about 1 person on 2 topics.

Please remember these are my thoughts and rants, I’m not here to change anyone’s mind. Enjoy and keep your opinions in your pants.

But let’s get into the thick of it and the hypocrisy of Rafeal Edward Cruz, better known to many ‘Muricans as the Texas Senator Ted Cruz. The Canadian-now-Texan has been making some waves over the past week on two topics which wreaks of pandering and ass kissing for campaign money.

Wait are pandering and ass kissing the same thing.

OK, anyway the two topics are: Newsmax’s Censorship & Term Limits

1. Newsmax Censorship
So what the hell is going on with Newsmax that’s got the coldhearted Cancun lovin’ Ted’s beard in a ruffle

On January 24, 2023 those heartless bastards at DirecTV stopped carrying the Newsmax Channel on their services and that led many Conservative politicians crying into any available microphone that the Conservative news channel is a victim of censorship!

Sounds cut n’ dry, right?

What is the definition of “censorship” in the US nowadays:

Generally, the term “censorship,” when applied to American laws, refers to the government’s act of banning or altering media, speech, or performances. This is generally based on the presumption that such materials are, or will be, offensive or dangerous to the public.
– HG.org (Legal Resources)

Anyway, Conservatives are blubbering on their social media for their base to follow but let’s get out of the kiddie pool and go into the deep end with some fact.

DirecTV and Newsmax could not agree on a contract renewal and the original contract ended on Jan 24, 2023, thereby ending Newsmax viewership on DirecTV.

There ya have it, a contract dispute is the true reason and fact.

THAT’S NOT CENSORSHIP – – THAT’S FREE MARKET

But why couldn’t they come to a final agreement?

This gets even better folks, as both sides couldn’t come to terms over carrier fees. Basically, Newsmax wanted rate increases and DirecTV refused because they would have to raise customer fees to carry the network.

Did ya get it: Newmax wanted more money and DirecTV said no.

The cry of censorship of Newsmax also falls back to the previous January when DirecTV ending the One America News channel contract.

That’s two conservative channels blacked out because of contract negotiation stall. Or easily put, both Channels wanted more money and DirecTV said no bueno.

Again, that’s not censorship, but it’s easy for Politicians to throw the term around with their base thumping their chests to it as they feel they’re being put in a corner. There are numerous cable carriers and apps that if you’re that upset about this incorrectly labeled censorship, drop the carrier and go elsewhere!

However if this were a Liberal cryin’ foul, good ol’ Ted would be snickering like Grandpa Munster

The Enigma of the Week: Ted Cruz

2. Term Limits
Senator Cruz is fed up and wants to end the numerous resumes of career politicians and push legislation on term limits.

Well, I applaud Sen Cruz on this topic because I’ve been 100% for term limits from Day One I registered to vote, yet Term Limits to some is another hypocritical problem: They prefer them for the other Party and not theirs as people keep voting the same jag-offs in every election cycle.

Back to Teddy’s term limit idea and with this quote:

“Term limits are critical to fixing what’s wrong with Washington, D.C., The Founding Fathers envisioned a government of citizen legislators who would serve for a few years and return home, not a government run by a small group of special interests and lifelong, permanently entrenched politicians who prey upon the brokenness of Washington to govern in a manner that is totally unaccountable to the American people.” Feb 1, 2023 The Texas Tribune

Again (I can’t believe it) I agree 100% with the slicked hair Harvard alum.

I even agree with his limits:
US Senate = 2 terms / 12 years
US House = 3 terms / 6 years

And this ain’t the first time he’s attempted to push Term Limits, nope he and the co-sponsors tried in 2017 & 2019.

The 2019 attempt obviously fell on deaf ears with Dem’ers holding the Majority in the House and GOP’ers holding court in the Senate.

However, in 2017 the GOP held the majority in both House and Senate, so there should’ve been a clear path to victory, right?

Nope, because why would anyone want to put a limit on their taxpayer funded cushy gig when you’ve got a 95% chance of re-election because of the D or R next to your name?

So when you’ve failed two times prior (and not to mention the many who’ve tried previously) you do what’s easiest; you blame the other Party for it’s failure.

Yeppers, good ol’ Ted is now blaming non-other than current Senate Majority Leader Dem. Senator Chuckie Schumer as too why the 3rd attempt will fail.

But there’s a bit of a slap in the face over all this by the Canadian born Texan. If the legislation passes, it wouldn’t be enacted till 2036!

Which means all the talk about career politicians is a joke as Ted is currently gearing up for a 3rd Senate campaign for 2024.

It’s all a show folks, because Sen Cruz should follow his three time proposed legislation and end his Senate career with this term!

And you, the voter, you want Term Limits so bad, start voting these career politicians out now, starting in 2024. Of course, by doing so, you play the chance of flipping your district or at worse ending up with some whacko taking the seat and ending up in an unqualified committee position.

That’s it, slap the tap, pass the overpriced stale peanuts, pay the f*ck attention to both Parties and stop blaming one of the other for today’s problems as you pay your political tab.

CHEERS!
