GOP Governors Send Police To Border States With Barbs at Biden Administration – By Claire Hansen (US News) / June 24 2021
Three Republican governors are sending state law enforcement officers hundreds of miles away to the U.S.-Mexico border in response to a call for help from the GOP governors of Texas and Arizona.
Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts recently announced plans to send a couple dozen troopers from the State Patrol to deal with a crisis near the border.
But he wasn’t referring to one of Nebraska’s boundaries with any of the six states that surround it in the U.S. heartland. Rather, he was referring to a border hundreds of miles south, in another state: Texas.
Ricketts is the third GOP governor who has pledged to divert their own law enforcement personnel to the U.S -Mexico border in response to a request from Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.
Along with Ricketts, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Idaho Gov. Brad Little have also said they’ll send state law enforcement hundreds of miles away to work with Texas and Arizona authorities.
