The Venezuelan government is under investigation by the international community for selling legitimate Venezuelan identification to non-Venezuelan citizens.
Security intel has been investigating an immigration scheme concocted by the Venezuelan regime, allowing a criminal pipeline to funnel into the Western Hemisphere from the Middle East over the past several years.
Now, the treasury department is taking action to stop this activity.
Joseph Humire, Executive Director for a Secure and Free Society says, “what we’re concerned with was the dual identities — individuals that were of Middle East origin coming from Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan,or other countries in the Middle East.
It’s what he calls, an immigration scheme going on in Venezuela — the government facilitating drug traffickers and potentially terrorists to enter the Western Hemisphere. But he clarifies it’s not all Venezuelans coming in, saying “there’s a lot of Venezuelans that come for legitimate reasons. I’d say the majority come for legitimate reasons. The question is are we vetting to potential false identities. a “Venezuelan”, someone that’s not a Venezuelan, someone that’s from the Middle East but has a new identity… ”
Years of investigation and reports from inside whistle blowers show the Venezuelan government selling identification documents; birth certificates, national IDs and Venezuelan passports to non- citizens.
