Sebastian Gorka claims Steve Bannon contributed to Trump’s UN speech, White House disputes -By Sean Langille (washingtonexaminer.com) / Sept 21 2017
The White House is pushing back on claims by former Trump adviser Sebastian Gorka that ousted chief strategist Steve Bannon helped write the president’s fiery speech he delivered before the United Nation’s General Assembly on Tuesday.
Gorka told Newsweek on Thursday that he and Bannon sat down with Trump’s U.N. speechwriter, before both of them were ousted from the White House last month, to help draft the speech.
“The individual who wrote that speech — and it’s not the person they normally say it is — came to Steve and myself and sat in Steve’s office with me before we left the White House and we consulted with him on what that speech should be about,” Gorka said.
However, the White House disputes Gorka’s claim as “100 percent false,” adding the two had no role in the crafting of the president’s speech.
Reports have speculated that Trump senior adviser Stephen Miller, a staunch hardliner on immigration, has authored many of the president’s public remarks.
Trump’s Tuesday speech before the United Nations’ General Assembly vowed to “stop radical Islamic terrorism” and reiterated his “America first approach.” The themes, Gorka says, were true to the original version he supposedly helped craft.
“He kept his word, he got the text past the swamp dwellers and it was classic Trump, it was classic ‘MAGA’ agenda,” Gorka added, referring to Trump’s “make America great again” slogan.
“Everything in there was classic Donald Trump, from calling out evil, from challenging the multilateral globalism that the U.N. has become. Not even declaring communism a threat, but also talking about the disaster that is the socialism and what it’s caused in Venezuela. That was Donald Trump,” Gorka said.
Gorka, who now serves as chief strategist for a pro-Trump super PAC, the MAGA Coalition, said Trump’s speech is evidence of the influence figures like himself and Bannon still have on the president.
“It just shows you that even if he is surrounded by the wrong people, we can have an influence,” he said. The good people left inside the building can support the president as is required. He knocked it out of the ballpark,” Gorka said.
PB/TK – POTUS Donnie’s speech was the best speech…so far. Must’ve been better then his speech on Afghanistan plans that was heralded as the best, but will the UN speech hold water for his next speech? But his speeches have gotten better even though his delivery still needs work, but please leave the namecalling and sarcasm out it just gives ammo to the detractors
