Hillsboro Beach – This small community is preparing for a big visit Friday from President Donald Trump, but so far only the price of the fundraiser he will attend here has been revealed: $580,600 buys dinner for two for a so far undisclosed location.

On Tuesday, Police Chief Jay Szesnat met with the Secret Service and Broward Sheriff’s Office on security matters. “We are looking into every facet of this,” the chief said, adding that the larger agencies are taking the lead.
Commissioner Barbara Baldasarre said residents were expressing their concerns to her about security.
Vice Mayor Irene Kirdahy said she is “stressed” by the event. “. . . outsiders on our island in the time of COVID-19? I am not happy with it.”
In reply, Mayor Deb Tarrant said, “Residents have a constitutional right to hold private function in their homes.”
