Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren (Mass.) said on Tuesday that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) is wrong about Democrats not needing to be a “big tent” party.
The View cohost Meghan McCain asked Warren if she agreed with the freshman congresswoman’s recent comment that Democrats may have “too big of a tent.”
“I think Alexandria was talking about other political systems. There are a lot of political systems where it’s multiple parties, but we are in a two-party system. In a two-party system, you better believe Democrats need a really big tent,” Warren said. “We need to win.”

Ocasio-Cortez commented in a New York magazine interview about the lack of progressive conviction in the Democratic Party and the watered-down nature of national party politics.
“Democrats can be too big of a tent,” she said, pointing to the policy gap between her and former vice president Joe Biden. “In any other country, Joe Biden and I would not be in the same party, but in America, we are,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
The democratic socialist endorsed Warren’s presidential election opponent Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) last year.
