Divers honked their horns in support as they passed a crowd of about three dozen demonstrators, including medical professionals, who gathered Wednesday afternoon outside the Akron Children’s Hospital complex.
“Anybody who wants to get vaccinated, good for them. Anyone who doesn’t, good for them. I have nothing against anyone who wants to get vaccinated; it’s their personal choice. I’m against mandates,” said Sharon Lalonde, who said she is a recently retired cardiac nurse who had suffered from COVID-19 for three months last year.
Akron Children’s Hospital last month announced that employees will have to get the COVID-19 vaccine or be tested regularly as a requirement for employment.
